VA – Distorted Shire

The inspiration for Lycantrop’s second compilation, Distorted Shire, comes from Greek myth and legend. For thousands of years, the ancient Greeks celebrated the ‘Eleusinian Mysteries’ an annual ritual that culminated with group consumption of the barley-based, entheogenic kykeon drink and a night of wild dancing. Greece was also home to the father of all Lycans: King Lykaon, transformed into a wolf by Zeus himself. Transformation lies at the heart of these ancient traditions and tales and trance formation is Lycan lifeblood.
Distorted Shire is a ‘split plus friends’ with Nelson (Mind Distoriton System) and Mario (Darkshire) at its core, and featuring an all-Greek cast of producers, with the exception of Mind Distortion System. MDS and Darkshire collaborated on two tracks; the rest of the album is split between the two artists and features each of them solo, as well as with friends, including artist Dimitri Dark Elf on tracks with each.
The result of this tight-knit collaboration is a highly cohesive and smooth-flowing album with dynamic basslines and energetic, shifting rhythms: acoustic kykeon for the wolf within!

Hello Friends, thanks for listening to this album: was made with much love by Lycantrop family – my husband is the artist Mind Distortion System, appearing on half the tracks, and we make the label together – for this release, we had super-good vibe collaboration with our friend Mario, the artist behind the name DarkShiRe, as well as part of the projects, Septagram, Kokobloko, to name a couple. And not to forget, Dimitri aka Dark Elf, aka the other half of Septagram! Dark Elf and DarksHire also co-feature on the bonus track, X – a DarkShiRe remixx of a Dark Elf classic. So, DarkShiRe and Mind Distortion System sounds form the heart of the album – the 2 artists collaborate on 2 tracks, then each have their own material and collabs with other artists….and with Dark Elf on a collab track with each of them, plus mastering, his influence is strongly felt. So, a real family album from true friends who happen also to be top talent!
You might know from our profiles on Last.FM, YouTube, Psyport, etc: we strongly support you people getting your hands on the music in whatever way is right for you – everyone has their own code of ethics, budget, etc. For example, we can’t afford to buy music these days. We don’t download WAV or FLAC files of ANYTHING, but we are very lucky to be given a lot of music.
